Yeah, with the feedback so far I think this is the best approach, Chris.
So let us do that.

This gives those who want more time for the upgrade enough time to
prepare and those who want to upgrade sooner can do so at their own pace
with a bit more ease.

Then on January 1st I'll push the update to YUM one way or the other.

I agree that this is perhaps the best solution.
