Hi,
Try to avoiod the Line wrapping, the frequenly text went to the next line
you can put another # in front of it,
Becase proftp will think it is a configuration option and it is only a
comment,
Tried the fix on a 5208 too and had just to enable / disable ftp on the GUI
and worked
Just commenting this line
# BanOnEvent ClientConnectRate 30/00:01:00 01:00:00 "Stop connecting so
frequently!"
at /etc/proftpd.conf

I just disabled the ban module at /etc/proftpd.conf
BanEngine on
And change it to
BanEngine off
#restart xinet with
/etc/init.d/xinetd restart

Better workaround yet.
Same file just comment this line (just add the #)
# BanOnEvent ClientConnectRate 30/00:01:00 01:00:00 "Stop connecting so
frequently!"
both didn't work for me on a 5107R/5108R, couldn't restart proftp after
/sbin/service xinetd restart ...
