[BlueOnyx:17484] Smart Relay Server

Running a 5208R, I have set the Smart Relay Server in the configuration for email, but the outgoing email isn't relayed through it. The FQDN is valid and the BO box does resolve it properly.
Is there a specific log which would indicate if there is an error with the relay server? Is there a file(s) which controls this relaying behavior?
Someone is sending junk mail through the server, and none of the settings in the GUI which are supposed to prevent this seem to be working.
