FYI, this was confirmed to be happening with 5208R and 5209R. The root
cause was the systems were hosted on an Aventurin{e} node that had not
been rebooted in 2 years. Therefore, the kernel running kernel was
quite old.
Migrating the virtuals to an alternate node on a current kernel solved
the problem, and made the primary node available for rebooting without
downtime to the virtuals.
