[BlueOnyx:25453] subdomains 5210R

I created a sub domain for a site but it won't load the default page
index.html

If I include it at the end of the www.sub.domain/index.html
<http://www.sub.domain/index.html>  this will load it

but if I just use www.sub.domain <http://www.sub.domain>  I get the login
page to blueonyx

I'm running 5210R its a clean install for testing a project

I did try putting a .htaccess file in the folder for the subdomain with the
line "DirectoryIndex index.htm index.html index.php" but no change
