Hello Chris,

instead of deleting the Alias column from the database, I go to the definition of the column and select that the default value for this column is NULL.
This then always works.

Best regards,
Dirk

Betreff: [BlueOnyx:27189] Help for Roundcube "login failed"

Have you recently migrated your BlueOnyx VSITE and now Roundcube logins fail?   We have seen this several times, especially when migrating from older (ie: 5209R or older) servers with older versions of Roundcube. A login attempt with a correct username/password combination will produce the yellow "login failed" box at the bottom right corner of the Roundcube login screen.

We have noted in the Roundcube error log, a message like this is produced:
DB Error: [1364] Field 'alias' doesn't have a default value (SQL Query:
INSERT INTO `users`

Removing the "alias" column from the database corrects the issue and allows the user to login as expected.   This is better than blowing out the database entirely and losing any saved configurations / contacts / etc.   Posted here in hopes it will help someone going forward.  (Maybe me when I search for the problem years later.  In which case, "hello, me.  You seem to be increasingly forgetful these days.")
