Hello,

I am running an 5108R with the following loaded kernel:

Linux <servername> 2.6.32-131.12.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Aug 23 11:13:45 CDT 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Installed in the systems seems to be newer one:

kernel-headers-2.6.32-279.22.1.el6.x86_64
kernel-2.6.32-279.22.1.el6.x86_64
dracut-kernel-004-283.el6.noarch
kernel-firmware-2.6.32-279.22.1.el6.noarch
kernel-2.6.32-279.19.1.el6.x86_64
kernel-2.6.32-131.12.1.el6.x86_64

In the /boot directory I have the following files:

-rw-r--r--. 1 root root   100203 Aug 23  2011 config-2.6.32-131.12.1.el6.x86_64

but the grub.conf looks like this:

# grub.conf generated by anaconda
#
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE: You have a /boot partition. This means that
# all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /boot/, eg.

#          initrd /initrd-[generic-]version.img
#boot=/dev/sda
default=0
timeout=5
splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz

I see no entries for the newer kernel in the grub.conf.

Is this a mistake? Is it working as designed?
Can I deinstall / reinstall the newer kernel with the hope that grub conf will contain the correct settings after reinstall?

Regards,
Dirk
