[BlueOnyx:17103] 5209R - Problem with sending mails (smtpauth)

Hello,

I try to send email with smtpauth with a 5209R.
But I always get the message no authentication mechanism found.
In the /var/log/maillog I only see 

Feb 24 07:46:37 localhost sendmail[11389]: t1OCkbMf011389: [1.2.3.4] did not issue MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN during connection to MTA

It makes no changes if I try PLAIN or TLS or SSL.
Do somebody have an idea what to change to get this running?
