I had suddenly the same issue several times, login to the admin server didn't work; after the correct credentials, the login form reappeared.

With ssh, I restarted the admin server with /etc/rc.d/init.d/admserv restart (or with the new command systemctl restart admserv ) and then it worked again.

no idea why that happened, I previously fiddled around with MySQL and MariaDB...
