One of Hyper-V's little quirks is it assigns random MAC addresses to your virtual NIC's unless you hard code them in the VM's settings. BX doesn't like it when ETH0 is suddenly not where it was. I could see this wreaking havoc with hostnames too.

I thought I would try adding chattr +I to /etc/sysconfig/network and /etc/hosts files but that made no difference. The content in those files are correct but the hostname command still selects a random virtual site as does the GUI in TCP/IP settings. Anyone care to offer an opinion :-)
