Do you have this as your host/domain/alias setup?

I use:

  Host Name: www
  Domain Name: mydomain.com
  Web Alias Redirects: [checked]
  Alias: mydomain.com

No login redirect problems.

Short of that, root into the shell and check the 
ServerAlias line in the site file /etc/httpd/conf/vhosts/siteXX
